Kinja'd!!!

I always thought the watch and pods were for nerds (not me) even though I wear glasses and work in IT (nerd). Then I started running...somewhere along the line I expressed interest and mentioned to my wife that the hold up was the lack of nice bands and not being a hypocrite . So she got me the fancy Hermes one for Christmas, but the leather band didn’t fit. Apple made her return the whole thing instead of just changing out the band. By the time I was ready to order another one they were all sold out. So I ordered a standard apple watch, air pods, and a nice leather strap off of etsy. The watch arrived a few days ago and I just went for my first run without my phone and with the air pods...amazing.

As an added benefit, it has severely decreased the amount of time I spend doing nothing with my phone! I leave my phone in the car or in the bedroom 90% of the time now. I strolled into the grocery store the other day with empty pockets and it felt great.

I can’t wait to get out on my mountain bike with the watch. I’m a details kind of guy and being able to somewhat quantify every workout just makes me more likely to workout every day.

In other news, I’m still waiting for the title and tag for the Bimmer. It probably won’t be this week. Lucky for me it’s not exactly 44 year old car weather here in PA right now (not that I wouldn’t be out driving it because I would).

While airpods aren't my favorite, truly wireless earbuds are easily my favorite new tech of recent years

Agree. Not the most comfortable or the best sound quality but they’re damn good and the way they work so seamlessly (switching between devices, turning off when you take them out etc...) is awesome

For your bike rides definitely check out Strava if you haven’t already. Or don’t if you’re a competitive person lol

Is the “fit” of the AirPods the same as the older, wired Apple headphones?

Looking forward to these being more “in-ear” and not so goofy-looking. Ha!

I was a huge fan of the Jaybirds wireless buds, can’t get around to the airpods since they just fall out of my ear in any real workout/training. My wife loves her set though.

I might be the only twenty-something who would rather have a Weiss watch (or similar) instead of another digital screen in my life.

even if you aren’t competitive (I hold several of the slowest times on local trails) it’s still nice to see if you are a data driven person. I throw my phone in my camelbak and keep the display up on my watch.

Yes! Jabra E lites. Audio quality, fitment and style (subjective I know) are quite a bit better than airpods. These things really sound good. Apple definitely still has the lead in terms of charging though.

Even on an Apple-centric review page, these get high marks, and are reccomended as a first pick .

Be careful of leaving the phone in the car or anything of value in the car really. My number one reason for taking my wallet and phone with me any time I leave my car is just theft prevention, not that I really need them every time. I dont even like leaving sun glasses sitting in the car just because I value my windows. Not that I live in the ghetto or anything, just that crime really does happen everywhere.

I really despise how pretentious ear pods look though. For some reason just the way they stick out of ears looks over the top. I love the concept of wireless headphones and these especially are neat technically. But man I could not wear these specifically.

Airpods changed my life.

Watch did not. But I had Watch series 1. I’m not sure I’m ready to drop another ~$500 on that failed experiment, tho

I dont like wireless headphones. Because they don't fit my lifestyle of never charging my electronics.

The pods were an easy choice for me b ecause they switch easily between my work phone, personal phone and computer. Not perfect, but way better than fiddling with BT while trying to pick up a call or Skype meeting . They’re comfortable enough , and sound pretty good. For pure music, or if I need some hearing protection, I use sound isolating Shure s and their bluetooth cable.

I resisted the watch, and openly scorned it since series 1 came out . I don’t (didn’t ) often wear a watch and, aesthetically , much preferred nice mechanicals. I happened to read about the new ones and thought, ehhh, ok, I’ll look at them. I bought a 44mm stainless after about 10 minutes playing with one and LOOOOOVE it. The looks are...ehhh, whatever... but it’s usually under a sleeve. As you point out, being able to leave the phone behind is a great feeling. I’ve realized that I’m not productive with my phone when not, you know, talking on the phone. If I want to read, I use my iPad.

Gasp... I think the watch does, at least for me, what Apple intended it to do. (Besides getting me  to get me to drop $$$ without thinking.)

Nice. I’ve considered these  in the past. Maybe one day I’ll actually drop the coin for a pair.

They’re a little better as far as fit. I can run with them without issue, however I’ve opted for the silicone jackets so they don’t get all gross. Those jackets make the fit much more firm.

I still roll a mechanical watch when I’m wearing a suit and or out at a social thing. I like the apple watch for what it does, not how it looks.

Yea the watch is a perfect gift as I wouldn’t have bought one on my own.

A great app if you are an outdoorsy type who goes hiking and more is WorkOutdoors. I bought it a year ago and it was well worth it for the hikes I  do in the summer. You can download maps and trails locally to the watch and it uses GPS (no data connection needed). Shows you different trails and leaves breadcrumbs so you retrace your steps. Also quantifies everything like heart rate, pace, elevation, distance etc.
